Kıvanç Ersoy

PD Dr. Kıvanç Ersoy

I am a Privatdozent at the FU Berlin Institute of Mathematics, and I also serve as the subject editor for group theory, topological groups, and Lie groups at zbMATH Open.

From 2023 to 2024, I was a Vertretungsprofessor at TU Dresden. In 2024–2025, I was a research fellow at the University of Palermo.

I am an algebraist working mainly in group theory, with emphasis on finite and locally finite groups, automorphisms, centralizers, profinite groups, and structural properties of infinite groups. My recent work also connects group theory with model-theoretic algebra, sofic groups, and applications to cryptography.

My research interests include finite and locally finite groups, simple groups of Lie type, automorphisms and centralizers, linear algebraic groups, profinite and residually finite groups, existentially closed groups, model-theoretic algebra, sofic and hyperlinear groups, and group-theoretic cryptography.
