Dr. Ernesto Tapia
Welcome!
I joined the
Artificial
Intelligence Research Group at the Freie
Universität Berlin as
a member of the scientific staff in November 2004. I received a Ph.D.
degree from the Freie Universität Berlin for my work on handwriting
recognition. I hold a M.S. degree in applied mathematics from the
Mathematics Research Center
(CIMAT), Mexico. I also hold a B.S. in mathematics from the
Universidad Veracruzana,
Mexico.
I am currently working in the
MathFoR project whose objective is the
development of Java libraries for the recognition of on-line handwritten mathematical notation. I am also working in
the development of a new platform for e-learning similar to
E-Chalk.
My research
interests also include pattern recognition,
neural networks, computer vision, image processing, evolutionary
algorithms, robotics and
natural language processing.
Please contact me if you have any question about our
projects or
thesis topics.
