Abstract
In the distance lecture a talk concering a method
of technology education based on a
problem-
solving scheme is given. This method aims at letting students
acquire fundamental technology and
creative power for themselves, first by setting up the final
goal of their study theme, then by
searching the solutions through simulation and successive experiments.
For the goal of making an object fly in the air, for example, the following procedure takes place:
1) Establish equations of motion and hydrodynamics based
on the principles of flying objects.
Then examine simulations of the equations
on PC.
2) Construct a model of the flying object to verify the
result of 1). Ways of obtaining materials for
the model must be elaborated as well as ways
of constructing it.
3) Through the experiments using the model,
correctness of the simulation described in
1) is
verified. If the result is not desirable,
simulation and experiments are repeated as needed.
